Apwoyo from Uganda!

Hey All!
Apwoyo (Hello) from Uganda! Wanted to give you all a brief update about life on this side of the world. Its currently 9:00 in the morning and it’s quite a lovely day in the neighborhood. I’m sitting drinking a cup of coffee in a local coffee shop, owned by an American couple with a pretty cute one-year old son. Much of the profit made from the shop goes towards supporting an orphanage in the area. The 31 Bits ladies are doing great! We currently have 34 of them… and they never fail to keep me busy. I wanted to share a little story with you about one of our ladies. Ketty, (aka Grandma Ketty) is 77 years old and is currently our oldest lady working with us. She has a great story (read more about her on our “designer” page). However, when the rebels attacked many years ago, her family was majorly impacted. One of her little girls was taken and her whole family was forced out of their village in order to escape further attack. She currently lives in town, but has always talked about how her dream is to move back to her village. “It’s so nice and quiet,” is what she always tells me. Over the past few months she has been working extra hard and saving every penny in order to build a small brick house out in the village (where many of our other women live). Before Kallie left, Ketty brought her and I out there to show us the land on which she intended to build her house. The last time I went out there, she had begun building and laying the foundation of her new place. When I talked to her today, she said that the rest of the house would be completed this month and that she would be able to move back next month, in August! It has been her goal for so long, and it is so great to see it actually coming true. This is just a taste of how 31 Bits and supporters like you are contributing to these ladies lives. They are so grateful to everyone who wears their jewelry, spreads their stories, and continues to impact their lives.
-Much love from Uganda!

Hi Brooke, So interesting to hear about life there. We are praying for and all. Soon, you will be joined by Anna !….and in a month, Allison and Jessie. Should be quite a contrast for Allison, after her 8-5 tech office job :) .We are so proud of you girls. Love hearing about the women and pics too. hugs, Judy
