New beginnings for 31 Bits

October 18th, 2009 | Comments (0)

The Uganda team has been as busy as ever! The new designs being completed are some of the best we’ve seen yet. The designers’ knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm for their craft continues to amaze us… we can’t wait for the new designs to be released!

In the meantime, we thought we’d update you with some of the recent happenings in Gulu…

One of our jewelry designers, Tina, has continually shown us tremendous potential. Not only is her jewlery of the best quality, but she has been a huge help to the other ladies that are still perfecting how to cut, roll and varnish. Tina’s consistency, kindness, and willingness to help has led us to promoting her to a project manager position. She has been crucial to the design process, as her sample necklaces, input, and oversight has benefited the other designers and our creative vision as well. And as the photo proves, Tina’s a rockstar!

We always love when our women bring their children to the compound, and we are happy to annouce we have a new addition to the 31 Bits nursery! Florence, one of our original six, gave birth to a healthy, adorable little boy named Caleb. According to Florence, giving birth to 7 1/2 pound Caleb was “somehow very painful” but from the smile on her face and the way she holds him proudly, it’s obvious this little baby with a full head of hair was well worth the pain. : )
