It's good to be back…

After 4 weeks away from the 31 Bits compound, it is so refreshing to be back among the ladies, beads, and laughter that is quite unlike any other place I’ve experienced. Monday was a whirlwind of screaming, hugging, jumping and just pure joy to be reconnected with dear friends.
Coming back in the peak of the dry season, we are experiencing a lot of changes from when we left in December. Gulu is more brown and dusty than ever, red dirt somehow gets blown into every fold and crease of our clothes and face, and it is impossible to stay clean once you step outside.
Despite all of these changes, it has been nice seeing things around the compound that have not changed a bit.
The ladies are still loving their bikes and riding them every day. They will be finished paying off their loans at the end of February!
Our Livelihoods development manager, Gladies, is still rocking the financial and business lessons.
And Baby Jessie (named after our very own Jessie Simonson) still looks like a serious old man.
We are so excited for 2011 and all that’s in store for the ladies of 31 Bits.

If you live in Orange County, and haven’t been to SEED yet, you’re missing out.
Located in The Camp off of Bristol St. in Costa Mesa, Seed has a strong commitment to sustainability and support of local artisans. Their mantra is “products with a purpose” Not only are their products purposeful, they’re RAD!!!!
