Hellen’s Business Opportunity

Meet “Mamma Hellen”, who’s favorite memory is “the day when God joined her together with 31 Bits.” She is one of the earliest beneficiaries and has been a part of our organization for nearly 3 years!

Before Hellen came to 31 Bits, she was running a small poultry business. She raised chicks and sold them when they were fully grown. Although her plan was ambitious and potentially profitable, she did not have very much knowledge about raising chickens or running a business. During her time with this business, she lost nearly everything she had.

Through the Business Development program at 31 Bits, Hellen has learned the basics of starting and running a small business. She has built a foundation of knowledge on everything from budgeting, accounting, sales, and marketing a small business.

Two months ago, Hellen attended a field trip to a local piggery where she learned about the process of raising, mating, and selling pigs. This opened Hellen’s eyes to a business opportunity she wanted to pursue. While she is still in the early stages of developing her idea, Hellen has been working diligently with our Business Development Manager to learn how to best begin her new business venture.

Hellen will graduate from 31 Bits in late 2012 with the skills needed to start her own piggery business! Go Mamma Hellen!

So glad Helen gets the opportunity to learn strong business principles and practices while making beautiful jewelry at 31Bits.

Does business training occur simultaneously with 31 Bits work, or is it like separate workshops and classes? Both curious and impressed with your model.
