Meet Our Newest Staff Member!
Carolyne was welcomed to the team in August and has quickly become a great addition to our Ugandan staff. She takes part in overseeing production as well as assisting the livelihoods project manager in completing monthly check-ups with each of the beneficiaries that inform us of their needs and the progress they are making. Her previous work experience includes working at a local bank as well as with another organization focusing on the empowerment of women. She is passionate about leading other women who are less fortunate than herself and is happy to be a part of an organization that allows women to earn an income and learn the value of hard work.
Carolyne is quite the comedian and keeps us laughing daily. She loves country music, lunch time, and having her hair blow in the wind. She always tells us that people who laugh a lot and enjoy life will live long, and I can assure you that this one will reach a very old age. She also specializes in Acholi-English and when she is speaking to the ladies you can usually pick out the common phrases, “Oh by the way,” and “I’ve been telling you…” We are thankful to have her working with us and are blessed by all that she brings to the group.
Welcome Back Akello Joyce!
Joyce returned to work at the 31 Bits compound last week after a 3 month complication with the sickness of her newborn son. In early July she gave birth to her first child, Stuart, who seemed to be healthy and well. However, a couple weeks into his life, he developed sores in his mouth that spread throughout his body causing him to be very weak. For the past 3 months, Joyce has been unable to leave her son at home making her unable to earn money causing the family to rely only on her husband’s income from farming. The medicine was very costly as treatments had to be given three times a day. Thankfully, Stuart is now finally strong enough to be away from home and accompanying his mother to work allowing her to contribute to the family’s needs. We are very glad to have Joyce back with us and she is excited to be earning money again and spending time with her friends.

New Shoes!
Because of the money Adong Nighty is earning as a beneficiary of 31 Bits, she is able to provide for her family and even buy her daughter new shoes. As you can see, Peace is pretty stoked about these red kicks and enjoys strutting them all around the compound.
